The SilverSneakers® Fitness program is offered by World Gym in partnership with select health plans at no additional cost to Medicare-eligible members. Each Medicare-eligible member is entitled to a "basic" membership at one of World Gym - Fayette County's three locations; World Gym - Peachtree City, World Gym - Highway 54 and World Gym - Fayetteville. The "basic" membership includes the SilverSneakers® Classes, guidance from qualified fitness instructors and Senior Advisor, social activities and the use of each fitness center's amenities. The SilverSneakers® fitness classes are held at each of our three World Gym locations. The fitness classes are strength and conditioning classes specifically designed for older adults. Classes, taught by certified instructors, guide participants through exercises that focus on strength, flexibility, mobility, range of motion, balance, agility, and coordination to improve activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. The level of these classes is appropriate for fit individuals as well as for those who are sedentary, unfamiliar with exercise, intimidated by exercise, and/or entering post-rehabilitation programs. The goals of the class are to encourage wellness promotion and illness prevention, minimize aging-related physical deterioration, improve health and skill related fitness components, and increase a sense of well-being. Even if you are not eligible for the SilverSneaker Program, please stop by and visit each of our three World Gym locations to see all of the various amenities we have to offer to our Senior participants! World Gym members are invited to attend all Silver Sneaker classes offered at their location(s) at NO additional fee.
