Denise has swam competitively since she was 11 years old. She has competed at state and national levels as an age group, college and masters swimmer. She trained and competed for her first sprint distance triathlon at the age of 30. In additional to her own training, Denise coaches and manages an age group swim team, coaches new swimmers joining SCAT and works individually with adults and children.

Personal:

Denise has been a resident of Peachtree City since January 2006. In addition to being director and coach of the Planterra Penguins swim program for children, she has also works with the local age-group competitive team – SCAT.

Denise has been married for 15 years to a former two-time Hawaii Ironman participant, Paul Sturman. His love for triathlon took Denise her from competitive swimming to triathlons as well. They have one son, Thomas, age 11 who swims competitively and has competed in two Peachtree City Youth triathlons.

Denise loves Peachtree City most for its’ commitment to family and recreation. She hopes to continue this tradition by offering quality swim instruction for children and adults at a competitive or recreational level.
