Background and Interests
My first passion was ballet; I trained with the Atlanta Ballet School for Education for 3 years. I was determined to become a professional ballerina until I fractured my pelvis during a summer intensive program. Realizing I may need to pursue a new career, I turned my energy and focus toward the fitness industry. I naturally gravitated to any class with a beat and a bit of dance to it, such as Step. But determined to experience it all, I found I loved the weight lifting classes, yoga, and kickboxing too! Coming back from an injury and dealing with my own movement challenges (such as runners knee and back pain) has made me passionate about proper technique and determined to learn about corrective exercise.
When I’m not at the gym, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cooking and baking. I also build cardiovascular endurance by chasing around my 4-year old son and 1-year old dog.
My mantra has always been – “fitness is for everyone” I was never “naturally
athletic.” I hated PE in school and have always struggled to manage my weight. Every day is another day I have to put in hard work to keep myself fit. But being active and healthy is so important—it’s not just for the people it comes naturally to. I believe a well-rounded workout routine is essential to overall health and well-being. This is not just about a “lifestyle.” This is your life. You’ve been given one body: take care of it.
